Vintage Soviet Sputnik Podstakannik with Cut Crystal Glass

Produced to commemorate the launch of the first man made satellite into space, these Soviet vintage tea glasses are a brilliant homage to the early successes of the Soviet space program.

The commemorative "podstakanniks" (tea glass holders) were made at the Mstyorsky Jewelry Factory in Mstyora, Russia in the early 1960s. The holder is made of a Melchior a unique Soviet alloy which leaves a stunning matte silver finish.  It is truly Soviet mid century tea drinking in unique style.

The holder measures 2 1/2" in diameter and 3" high.
